If a Macintosh user changes his password on one machine and then logs into another mac (that he has already logged into), they will probably get some kind of message saying that the Mac (or an application) needs your "keychain" password.

The Mac is out of Synch with the "Windows" password at this point an the system is requesting the old password. If you know it, enter it (as many times as requested).

However, to fix the issue, you will have to:

  • Launch Keychain Access (either from the Applications>Utilities Folder or by searching for it with Spotlight)
  • Under the EDIT menu, select "Change password for Keychain Login..."
  • Enter in the Old password in the "Current" box
  • Enter in the new password (the one you logged in with) in the "New" and "Verify" box.
  • Quit Keychain Access...
If you do not know your old password then this will not work...
